Let's be honest. The church in Canada is struggling. Many pastors are stretched thin and burning out. There is a shortage of vocational and lay leaders. We are not raising up leaders in the local church.

We believe that it's time to change this! Let's partner with God as He renews his church and develops leaders who are theologically rooted, spiritually vibrant and strategically discerning.

Towards this end, we offer coaching that helps you to flourish in leadership, consulting to strengthen leader formation in the local church and guidance in discernment processes.

Emmaus offers coaching to emerging and established leaders to help them attend to their own spiritual formation as they disciple others. We empower you to develop your adaptive leadership skills along with spiritual discernment practices.

This enables you to tackle your current challenges and pursue the vision that God has given you and your community.

We also help churches to strengthen their leader development. As denominations repair their 'leadership pipelines' from above, we believe that the local church plays a central role in identifying, equipping and calling vocational and lay leaders. We work with leaders to create a contextualized vision, culture and process of leader formation that is connected to regional training and denominational ministry.

discernment

Lastly, we lead prayer retreats and communal discernment processes. We equip leaders and teams in the perspectives, postures and practices of discernment so that they can clearly discern and courageous respond to God's direction. This is founded in our belief that the Holy Spirit knows how to lead His church best and is looking for leaders who will listen and follow His guidance.

As our church went on a journey with a spiritual hunger to experience the Lord in deeper and fresh way, Josiah and the team came at such a pivotal point. Through spending time hosting a prayer night for our Church’s prayer team, facilitating a prayer retreat for our staff and another prayer night for our Board, many of our leadership in our church experienced the Lord and received such timely words and pictures that have come to pass, and confirmed or activated giftings from the Lord. To cap it all off, we then had a 2-week teaching series on Listening Prayer with a wonderful workshop that blessed so many of our congregants. It allowed them to see and experience hearing from the Lord in a safe place and it wasn’t scary for any of the skeptics. This is just the beginning of a wonderful journey for our church to see and hear from Jesus constantly!
